JESSE L CLINE, ST JOSEPH MO// 1948-2012

Jesse L. Cline, 63, of St. Joseph went home to be with our Lord, his savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 26, 2012.He was born October 8, 1948 in Chillicothe, Mo., the son of Virginia (Lewin) Cline. At the age of 8, Jesse and his family moved to Kansas City (west side) and Independence, Mo., then at the age of 14 he came to St. Joseph with his foster family, Mr. and Mrs. Thor Hagen. He graduated from Benton High School Class of 1968. He served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.He married Debbie Howard on April 1, 1978. Jesse worked at Snorkel for nine years. In 1986 he worked for the Department of Corrections in Jefferson City, then opened the new prison at Cameron, Mo., in 1988. In 1993 he worked at the WRDCC and retired in 2007, after 21 years of service.Jesse enjoyed his work and made many friends; he also enjoyed family dinners and cookouts. Jesse’s greatest joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved watching sports and coaching for his son’s football and basketball teams. He was a big Benton fan. He loved to fish with his daughter and the grandkids.Jesse was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Cline and foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thor Hagen.Survivors include two daughters, Jessica (Shawn) Coulter and Hila Cline of St. Joseph; three sons: Jessie “Tony” Cline of St. Joseph; Nicholas Cline USMC of Hawaii; Kyle Cline of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Cline of St. Joseph and Frank Cline of Independence, Mo.; four sisters: Norma (Bill) Collins of Shiloh Springs, Mo.; Nancy Cline of Maysville, Mo.; Phyllis Fisher of Oklahoma; and Patty Meredith of Independence, Mo.; foster brother, John Hagen; three foster sisters, Julie of Florida, Heidi of St. Joseph and Danielle and Bob McGee of Weston, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Eureka Valley Baptist Church, Pryor and Ohio Streets, St. Joseph, with Pastor Dude Kelly officiating.Memorials are requested to the Jesse Cline Memorial fund, Hands of Hope Hospice, or Eureka Valley Baptist Church.
