James F Baber Jr, 23, died about 7:30 Saturday evening when the self-built hot rod he was driving went out of control on Hyde parkway.

Jim was an apprentice carpenter, employed  by the E. J. Cody Co., Kansas City.

I always thought it was a motor cycle wipe-out. If not, that would have been a more fitting way for James to go.

If I remember correctly, he died in a dune buggy he and his dad had built. I'm almost certain it happened right in front of Benton, he went down in the ditch after he lost control.
