MARY ELIZABETH HIGGINS 1950-2020

Mary Elizabeth Higgins, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was born July 3, 1950 in St. Joseph, Missouri to John and Esther (Keling) Higgins. Mary was a member of Faith United Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, cooking, feeding her family, the birds and groundhogs. Mary will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her grandson, Tyler, Jr. who she raised. A memorial service will be held at her church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 grandchild. Survivors include children, Tyler Higgins, Sr., Tracy Gillespie, Tamin Thompson (Steve Gilmore); siblings, Sandra Horn (James), Joseph Higgins (Lorraine); 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Cremation under the direction of Simplify Cremations & Funerals.

Mary's last post on FACEBOOK (Dec 12, 2020) stated:

I still feel like I am recovering from one of the worst days I've had with the C.O.P.D., and I have hospice to thank for pulling me through it, with the help of my grand daughter

Night before last, I woke up with my standard bath-room run, at 4;14, then I couldn't get back to sleep I tried to fight through it on my own. The un-ability to breath right, and pains in strange places. My granddaughter, Kat, convinced me to call hospice, and they quickly came, knew what to do that helped me get over the attack! I am really glad that I chose Hospice, rather than the hospital. The same day that I had the problem with C.O.P.D. I also had a visit from the hospice pastor, who helped me find a bible verse, that my sister, Sandy had made me aware of. It's PHILIPPIANS CHAPTER 4 verse 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding ,shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. These words helped me so much, with my love for, and trust with Gods' plans for me. How could one accept anything other than the Heavenly love, that HE offers us all? I am so very thankful that Jesus is with me for ever, and for always!
